We are capable of undertaking the inspection, grinding, and polishing of crankshafts with diameters of up to 700 mm while the vessel is in operation. Our onsite crankshaft grinding machines are specifically designed, and their metallurgical properties have been enhanced over time to effectively absorb vibrations encountered during the sailing of the vessel.
We have successfully executed hundreds of crankshaft grinding jobs while vessels were in operation, including under rough sea conditions. The tolerances in terms of taper and ovality are consistently maintained well within the specifications stipulated in the manufacturer’s manual.
Recently, we executed the repair of crankpins No. 1 and No. 4 of a Hyundai MAN B&W 8L28/32 engine, having a standard diameter of 230.00 mm. This job was successfully completed while the vessel was sailing from Mundra Port, India, to Coega Port, South Africa.
