Development of ovality In crankpin and main journal of crankshaft of Daihatsu 5DC-17.

It is observed that ovality is developed in the crankpins and main journal of the crankshaft after the continuous running of 3-5 years of the engine.

Since, no crankshaft repair company in the world has the facility and necessary tooling to undertake onsite grinding and polishing of the crankpins having a small diameter of 145 mm and bearing width of 64 mm. They give the following two options to the ship owners.
